it started off with my Winter Wonderland Christmas Formal that i hosted for my Dayton church friends. it turned out so well and i couldn't have done it without the help of some great people. there was a mass amount of food on multiple tables, a tree full of white elephant gifts, snowman activity and cookie decorations. everyone did very well following dress code which made the party more exciting. so thank you to all that came.
i then ended up spending the rest of my weekend with my Columbus church family. for those who didn't know my dad is also a pastor of a church in Columbus. and yes, my family drives an hour every sunday morning for church. saturday was filled with laughter and smiles all evening. about 10 of us spent the chilly evening at the Columbus Zoo for the Christmas light show. it was probably 30 degrees that more or less felt like 5 degrees. thanks to ear muffs, gloves and hot chocolate i probably would have called it quites within 30 minutes.
the lights and sprinkled snow everywhere was so beautiful. despite my aversion to snow, snow is what completes Christmas day and makes the season what it is. after about 2 hours at the zoo we had dinner and picked up some bubble tea before heading home. the rest of the evening was spent exchanging white elephant gifts, snacking of food, and playing board games.
today is sunday, meaning there is only one more week until Christmas. i can't believe that another year has gone by. it felt like i was just celebrating New Years a couple of months ago. the other day my sisters and i were talking about this year that were about to put behind us. we talked about our good and bad times and how we grow from each other everyday.
2011 has to be the best year of my life. i experienced so many things this year i probably can't even name them all to you. i learned much more about myself and matured to a whole new level because of it. i can't wait to take 2012 head on and try to make it even better than this year.
